Reason To Love

Books they can actually see

Traditional bookshelves hide book spines. Children can't see what they have, so they don't reach for them. The Malo solves this completely. Up to 300 books, every spine forward-facing, on a design that rotates a full 360 degrees. One spin reveals the whole library.

Independence, built in

Three layers, all sized within a toddler's reach. Spin the shelf, choose a book, put it back. The whole interaction happens without an adult. Reading becomes a habit they reach for on their own, and the daily spin becomes a small ritual of exploration.

A piece they can grow with

Solid pinewood with a raw natural finish. Use it as is, or turn it into a weekend DIY project and paint it to match the room. Either way, the Malo is built to last well beyond the early years.

As Seen In

"The epitome of warm minimalism - a simple, self-assured sense of style, elevated by natural materials."

"So stylish, it could easily sit in any room."

"A considered approach to materials - and the wants and needs behind each product."

360 DEGREE DESIGN, FITS UP TO 300 BOOKS

THREE LAYERS OF STORAGE

PLAYFUL WAVE EDGES, SIGNATURE OF THE NUAGE RANGE

CRAFTED FROM NATURAL SOLID PINEWOOD THAT CELEBRATES THE WOODS ORGANIC GRAIN AND TEXTURE

Designed to be discovered.

The rotation is the design. Most bookshelves are something you walk past. The Malo is something children move. A 360-degree chassis turns book selection into a small daily ritual, the spin and the discovery built into the piece itself.

Reading, without the setup.

Three layers, all sized for little hands. Children can spin, choose, return, all without help. Reading stops being something parents have to set up, and becomes something children just do.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age range is the Malo Rotating Bookshelf best suited for?

The Malo is designed for young children from toddler age upward. The three layers sit at child height so little ones can spin, choose and return books on their own. Many families keep it well into the primary school years.

How sturdy is it?

Solid. The Malo is built from real pinewood with weight to match. The rotating mechanism is engineered to hold a full load of books smoothly. Four discreet stability screws have been added to the top to ensure additional security in family homes.

Will the books fall off when spun?

No. The design holds books in place during normal use, and the rotation is smooth rather than fast. Books stay where you put them, even when a curious child gives the shelf a strong spin.

Does it arrive flat-packed?

Yes. The Malo Rotating Bookshelf arrives flat-packed and is straightforward to assemble. Most customers complete it in around 30 minutes. All hardware and clear instructions are included in the box.

Can it be painted?

Yes, and many customers do exactly this. The Malo arrives in a raw natural pinewood finish that's designed to be painted or customised if you'd like. Use a low-VOC, non-toxic paint and seal with a child-safe finish. It's a popular weekend DIY project.

What does it pair with?

The Malo pairs naturally with the Maddox Montessori Shelves, which share the same principle of child-accessible storage. It also works beautifully alongside the Léon Activity Table, the Percy Chair and the Remi Stool as part of a complete reading or play corner.

Does it need to be wall-anchored?

The Malo is designed to stand on its own without wall-anchoring. The rotating mechanism is weighted at the base for stability. As with any piece of children's furniture, we recommend supervising young children around it during use.

How is the Malo delivered?

The Malo is delivered by standard courier. Metro deliveries typically arrive within 2-4 business days after dispatch. Rural and regional areas may take 5-10 business days. You'll receive tracking information once your order has been dispatched.
